I'm Martin. I've been building websites for small businesses in and around Derby since 2012.
I keep things small on purpose. No project managers, no account handlers, no ten-person Slack channel. Just me, doing the work, picking up the phone, sending invoices that aren't padded.
The boring stuff — accessibility, performance, SEO basics, security — I treat as standards, not extras to upsell. The interesting stuff — what your site says, who it's for, why someone would buy from you — is where I'd rather spend the time.

What costs are involved
There are three costs involved with setting up a website:
1. Design & Development of website (one off)
2. Hosting charges (annually)
3. Domain name (annually)
As an example, a simple Content Managed Website could be approximately £600 for the Development & Build of the website. Hosting is usually charged at £95 per year, and your domain name can be as little as £10 per year.
How long does it take
Every project is different, but on average, a website build from start to launch will usually take about 2 – 4 weeks

Do I need a logo
If you do not already have a logo, I can design something appropriate for your business. Otherwise I will base the website layout around themes and colours found in your logo.
What is a domain name & do I need one
A domain name is your website’s address on the internet — for example, your-web-designer.co.uk. It’s what people type into their browser to find your site.
You will need a domain name for your website. Your Web Designer can purchase this on your behalf, so that all web related charges come from one place. If you already have a domain name, we can simply ‘point’ this at your new website.
What is hosting & do I need it
Web hosting is the service that stores your website’s files and makes them accessible on the internet. Think of it as the space your website lives on a server (computer), so when someone types in your domain name, your site can load.
Yes, you’ll need hosting for your website to be online. Without it, your domain name would lead nowhere. Hosting ensures your site is available 24/7 for visitors.
Web hosting is provided with every website unless you already have hosting that you would prefer to use. Web hosting is usually charged at £95 per year for an ‘Unlimited’ hosting package, but this can vary depending on your requirements.
